You’ll find The Road Toad on Route 30 just a few miles east of Latrobe or West of Ligonier, and right before Idlewild Park. I am your host & friend Ron McDowell. I purchased this long time eating and drinking location back in December of 2008. My friends and I have been busy making some changes to the restaurant by developing a new casual theme dining experience that is a little more family friendly yet at the same time making The Road Toad an ideal spot for before or after a great day of golf, skiing or hiking our trails, a day after the park or for a romantic night out for dinner.

In addition to great food and drinks, The Road Toad offers a casual dining experience with and un-matched view of the scenic Loyalhanna Stream.

First managing for 14 years the once popular “The Corner Restaurant” then moving on to operate my own restaurant & lounge near the Keystone State Park entrance called Cocomos for a decade in the 1990’s. During my culinary career I have also managed for 10 years the highly successful Red Lobsters in both Greensburg and Monroeville.

The Road Toad features a well appointed bar and lounge with a carefully selected wine list, frosty cold drafts, an extensive “ala carte designed” menu and a dining room cased in plate glass windows fronting the meandering Loyalhanna. An outdoor deck and bar area will add even more scenic viewing on warm sunny days and evenings. There is also a private Banquet Room for parties of up to 32 people.

The Road Toad is closed on Tuesdays and opens at 4:30 Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. Friday, Saturday & Sunday they’re open at 11:30 for Lunch and remain open all day, and offer 3 dinner features nightly.
